BIOGRAPHY

Lloyd Ridgeon, BA, MA, PhD, was elected to Council in 2012. He is Reader in Islamic Studies at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Glasgow, where he teaches on classical Islam, modern Islamic thought and modern Iran. His research interests encompass Persian literature, Iranian history and culture, classical and modern Sufism and Islamic history. In 2018, he published an edited book on Javanmardi (with Gingko Library) which was one of the three-year BIPS research projects. His latest research project looks at the hijab in the modern Iranian context by examining the ideas of three modern jurists.
