An article on Iranian Cinema and Theatre, written by BIPS award-holder Dr Saeed Talajooy, has recently been published by the British Academy. The article, titled “How Bahram Beyzaie reformulated Iranian cinema and theatre“, explores how Bahram Beyzaie used innovative techniques to convey his message through his films. It also details a workshop ran by Dr Talajooy in which the participants analysed these techniques further. Dr Saeed Talajooy is a lecturer in Persian at the Department of Arabic and Persian at St Andrews University. He is currently working on a monograph on The Poetics and Politics of Modern Iranian Drama. Dr Talajooy received a £3,000 grant from the British Institute of Persian Studies to support his research.
