A short film dedicated to Professor David Stronach to celebrate BIPS’s 60th Anniversary

David Stronach, Martin Weaver, Mahmoud Aram, and workmen with Xerxes’ tablet. Tall-e Takht, the 1963 season.

On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the British Institute of Persian Studies, we are thrilled to release a short movie celebrating the life and work of David Stronach, the first director of BIPS. Collating archival material, photographs and interviews with BIPS trustees and academics who worked with the late Professor Stronach, the movie outlines BIPS’s contribution to Iranian archaeology of the 1960s and 1970s and gives a glimpse of the life on the excavations.

The film has been created by Anna Sowa, Chouette Films.

Watch the movie on our YouTube channel or visit the 60th Anniversary page on our website.
