It is with great regret that BIPS announces the death of Ruth Stronach on 15th September 2017 in Berkeley, California. Ruth married David Stronach, then Director of BIPS, in 1966, and visitors to the Institute buildings in Tehran will have warm memories of her friendly and hospitable welcome. Herself an archaeologist, she accompanied David into the field at Nush-i Jan and Shahr-i Qumis, and studied the pottery from both these sites. BIPS extends its deepest condolences to David and to their children Keren and Tami.
