Student Travel Grants, Early Career Researchers Conference Grant, and Research and Research Assistant Grants

Dear BIPS members and supporters,

The British Institute of Persian Studies invites applications for Student Travel Grants, Early Career Researchers Conference Grant, and for Research and Research Assistant Grants.

Funding is available to cover costs associated with developing or executing research projects in any field related to the wider Persianate world. BIPS are open to applications on South Asia, Central Asia, countries where Iranian Languages are spoken, Environmental History, and the History of Science. There is funding available for travel for students, either for research or to attend conferences. We invite applications for Research Grants and for Research Assistant Grants, in order to support scholars to develop or complete projects. BIPS also welcomes ECR applications for support towards registration fees for panel presentations at conferences on the Persianate world.

Currently enrolled PhD/Master students can apply for Student Travel Grants of up to £1200. Applications for the ECR Conference Grant are up to £1000 (£200 per panellist). Grants for Research Grants and Research Assistant Grants are up to £5000 and applications should be from PIs associated with a UK based HEI.

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 11th September 2026, 5PM GMT.
